'The Setlist': Art from the local music scene
ASBURY PARK, NJ: Harboring an artistic and creative community on Mattison Ave. in downtown Asbury Park, Bands on a Budget is not only a thriving storefront, but a space where local musicians, artists, freelancers and anyone interested in this growing community can be inspired. On Saturday, July 7 at 7 pm Bands on a Budget presents The Setlist: The Art of the Local Music Scene.
"The idea is to show the work of local artists who are known for their sound, yet are creative in various other mediums as well," says J. Sales, one of the event’s main organizers. "Bands on a Budget is a place where local music and art is supported fully. They open their doors to local artists for the sake of art. They never ask anything in return for their time, efforts, and use of their store."
On display will be different mediums of work by local musicians. There will also be acoustic performances by some of the artists. "Asbury Park has a true DIY art scene. Artists come together in support of one another in all forms of artistic expression. There is zero competition among this art community… only support," commented Sales. The featured artwork will be on display through the month of July. Featured artists at the show include organizer J. Sales from Moon Motel, Willis Weller, Nicole Esclamado, Anthony Defabritus from Accidental Seabirds, Connor Effenerger and C.M. Smith from The Amboys, Alan Smith, Daimon Alexandrius and Jenny Mustachio from Elevator Art, Gregg Bautista, and Sean Favre.
The show is free and open to the public. Uncle Jack’s Good 2 Go of Ocean Twp. Will be catering the event. Bands on a Budget is located at 630 Mattison Ave., Asbury Park, NJ.
