With Coachella kicking off festival season on April 11, it is now your time to start playing festivals. A lot of festivals will accept new acts via submissions. But it’s always worth doing some digging and finding a contact or a promoter that you can email directly. We have compiled a list of smaller, independent festivals that would we recommend putting on your radar.

The Move Music Festival in Albany, NY is a great festival for indie and alternative acts. Taking place from April 25-27, the festival headliner is Magic Man. Submissions are still open:

The Fest 13 takes place every year in venues across Gainesville, FL. Nothing besides the dates have been announced yet (Oct 31-Nov 2), but this punk festival never fails to disappoint with past headliners such as The Bouncing Souls, Lucero, and Frank Turner. More info can be found here:

Atlanta, Georgia is home to two festivals that you can submit to depending on your genre. The IMR Music Festival from June 12-15 is an indie music festival that accepts a large amount of bands from submissions. This year, they will accept 35 bands from submissions alone. There is a $10 submission fee.

If you’re a hop hop act check out Atlanta’s A3C festival. Last year, Schoolboy Q and Meek Mill were among some of the artists that performed. The festival is from October 8-12 and they are currently accepting submissions. There is a $20 submission fee; if you do not get chosen to play you get $25 off a festival pass just for submitting.

The Midpoint Music festival in Cincinnati, Ohio will take place from September 25-27 this year and will feature all kinds of rock and indie music. They are currently accepting submissions for a $25 fee.
