MOGO Musician Spotlight: Dentist

Bands on a Budget is psyched to live in Asbury Park, a town with such a thriving music scene and we work hard to help our local artists expand their brand to take their careers to the next level. That's why we're proud to be a sponsor of Asbury Live, a free weekly summer concert series being held on Wednesday evenings (8PM-10PM) and located on the 1st Avenue Green Space at the Asbury Park Boardwalk.

MOGO Korean Fusion Tacos will be donating $1 from every taco sold at the event towards supporting local musicians and investing in the future of Asbury Park’s music scene. The proceeds will go to the Asbury Park Where Music Lives youth initiative, which provides musical education programming, lessons and musical instruments for Asbury Park’s youth. Tonight at 8pm, Dentist will kick off another night of free music on the Asbury boardwalk for a great cause. Let's get to know more about Dentist!

How would you describe your sound to someone who's never heard your music before?

Elements of indie rock, surf, pop, and punk with female vocals.

What's the name of your latest release and where can we find it?

Self titled full length available on bandcamp. Go to or just type dentist band into google and you will find it.

Who are your top three music influences?

That's too hard to answer, but we are often compared to Best Coast, Wavves, and Alvvays if you're looking for a general idea of what we sound like.

What are your top three favorite local venues?

The Asbury Lanes, The Saint, and The Yacht Club.

If you had to listen to one record on repeat what would it be?

Pinkerton by Weezer

If you had to get a tattoo inspired by one band, who would it be?

Contemplating getting an image that was on the Mrs. Magician record. It's a palm tree.

What two (2) MOGO menu items would you bring to a deserted island?

The chicken burrito is amazing, but we've recently discovered that the tofu burrito is also amazing and worth getting even though we are not vegetarians.

If you walked into MOGO and they were playing a theme song for you what would it be?

Gosh darn Mogo is a delicious meal that I very much enjoy.

What does being a part of Asbury Park LIVE mean to you?

It's great to be part of a very community based thing that supports local bands and music in general. We are all about the Asbury music scene, so anything that strengthens it is an amazing thing.
